TDMHSAS Recognized
Substance Use Assessments
A professional substance use assessment provides a clear picture of where you are — and what level of support, if any, would benefit you most.
TDMHSAS-Recognized Assessments
Our assessments are conducted under TDMHSAS licensure and are recognized by Tennessee courts and state agencies — meeting the requirements for court-ordered evaluations.
What Is a Substance Use Assessment?
Whether required by a court, an employer, or driven by your own desire for clarity, a professional substance use assessment provides a comprehensive picture of your relationship with substances. The assessment examines patterns of use, any associated consequences, and your overall well-being — and results in a professional recommendation for the appropriate level of care, if any.
Our assessments are conducted by licensed professionals and completed in a straightforward, non-judgmental setting. Most assessments are completed in a single appointment.
Who Needs a Substance Use Assessment?
Court-ordered following a DUI or substance-related charge
Required by an employer or professional licensing board
Requested by a family member or treatment program
Self-requested for personal clarity and next steps
What to Expect
Your assessment will be conducted by a licensed professional in a private, confidential setting. You’ll be asked a series of structured questions about your substance use history, current use patterns, and overall health and functioning. The process is straightforward and respectful.
Following the assessment, you’ll receive written documentation of the findings and recommendations — suitable for submission to a court, employer, or treatment program. Henderson Counseling Services is licensed by TDMHSAS, meaning our assessments are recognized by Tennessee courts and state agencies.
